Naples Transportation Tours & Event Planning is pleased to announce that St. Matthews House is our November Charity of the Month. 

With Thanksgiving and the Holidays just around the corner, people by the hundreds will be turning to St. Matthew’s House for help with groceries for their holiday meals, while volunteers prepare and serve possibly just as many meals.  To that end, NTTEP has been collecting donations, as well as selling holiday wreaths and centerpieces at Experience Naples, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to benefit the homeless and hungry of Collier County.  

The mission of St. Matthew’s House is to provide housing for the homeless, food for the needy, and an opportunity to change lives in a spiritual environment that is both compassionate and disciplined.  Since opening in 1988 as a non-profit homeless shelter, St. Matthew’s House has served over two million meals.

Some quick facts:
• St. Matthew’s House has been over capacity at the main shelter since June 2005
• They average over 43,000 nights in their emergency housing each year
• They are the ONLY emergency housing and food ministry in the Naples area and one of only two in all of Collier County
• The food pantry provides over 2,500 packages of groceries to those in need annually.

Naples Trolley Tours was happy to participate in the 2008 Crawl 4 A Cure; a fundraiser to bring awareness to and fight against breast cancer.

“I can’t thank all of you enough that participated in the Crawl 4 a Cure!!! This was the best event that we have put together so far, and it’s all because of the wonderful people that came to support us. We raised over $7,000!!!!!!!! I can tell you that we will be doing this again, so be ready next year to sport those pink tshirts!!”

The Board of Directors for Southwest Florida Division of Children’s Home Society joined Lorraine Thomas to honor the 2008 R. David and I. Lorraine Thomas Child Advocate of the Year Award at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort.

After accepting top-notch nominees from the community, the finalists: Nadereh Salim, CEO of Children’s Network of Southwest Florida; Emily Lewis, Port Charlotte Family Service Center Manager; Donna Djerf, Exceptional Student Education, Lee County School District; Samira Beckwith, President and CEO of Hope Hospice and Community Services; and Katherine Miller, Founder and Executive Director of Lifeline Family Center were honored on November 1st at a dinner event created by NTT&EP and inspired by Anne Geddes.

The Board of Division Directors Lisa Portnoy, Geri Armalavage, Carla Bolten, Robert Reynolds, Stephen Ridgely and newest member Lesley Marr and NBC2 News Co-anchor Jamie Yuccas spoke to the crowd about Children’s Home Society of Florida’s mission as a state and national leader in providing high-quality, community-based solutions to meet the needs of individuals, families, and communities. The evening climaxed with Lorraine Thomas announcing the 2008 child advocate of the year, Samira Beckwith for her outstanding contributions to children and our community.

Naples Transportation, Tours & Event Planning employees participate in Lee National Denim Day®, one of the largest single-day fundraisers in the fight against breast cancer

Naples, FL – October 3 won’t be any ordinary casual Friday at Naples Transportation, Tours & Event Planning (Naples Trolley Tours). The denim worn on this day will not only be worn for comfort, but it will also make a powerful statement for an important cause. As Lee National Denim Day moves into its thirteenth year, Naples Trolley Guys and Gals will be gearing up to participate in this grassroots program which has raised more than $70 million for breast cancer research. 

Participants at Naples Transportation, Tours & Event Planning are encouraged to wear denim in exchange for a $5 donation to the Women’s Cancer Programs of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF). Funds raised support some of the most promising treatment and early detection research in the country, as well as the grassroots advocacy work of the National Breast Cancer Coalition. 

“We’re always looking for interesting ways for our employees to get involved in fundraising activities,” said Lesley Marr, Assistant General Manager.  We select a charity each month to support and the “Lee National Denim Day is easy and fun to do. Everyone gets to wear jeans to work  in exchange for a $5 donation and the money helps fight breast cancer, a cause that is very important to many of our employees.”

Naples Transportation, Tours & Event Planning will put their own twist to Lee National Denim Day by having our professional chauffeurs participate by wearing jeans instead of their uniform black trousers.  The drivers will still don their black jackets, white button up shirts and company logo’d tie and will carry signage to further the message of the importance of early detection.

“Every year we are inspired by the number of people at thousands of organizations across the nation who join us in wearing denim on Lee National Denim Day,” said Liz Cahill, Vice President of Marketing Communications for Lee Jeans. “The money they’re raising will be used to advance some of the most promising breast cancer research in the industry and we can’t thank them enough.”
